By Steve Marmor

The adrenal glands are small glands located on the most upper part of the kidneys, near the middle of the back. The adrenal glands are known as the “fight or flight” glands. In a stressful situation, the adrenal glands will secrete a hormone (epinephrine) to prepare our bodies for action. In a resting state, the adrenal glands are responsible for maintaining energy levels, blood sugar control, blood pressure control, a certain amount of muscular strength and much more. Some of the other hormones secreted by the adrenal glands are: Cortisol, DHEA, Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone, are examples of what these small but powerful glands contribute.

Adrenal exhaustion (or adrenal fatigue) is nothing short of an epidemic in today’s stressful world. The consequences of adrenal exhaustion include fatigue, a less than optimally functioning immune system, cancer, thyroid disorders, obesity, arthritis, fibromyalgia, sleep problems, low libido, sugar cravings, poor digestion, chronic fatigue syndrome, auto-immune disorders, and many other chronic health issues.

It is not your birthright to experience and live with these symptoms of imbalance. There is support available to assist you in rebuilding your adrenal glands, as well as broader more pervasive support to get you feeling like your old self again.

At Herbs & More in Encinitas, Ca. 760 753-7272, we specialize in building the charge back up in your  “body battery”, as well as digestive issues of all kinds. Always with an emphasis to get to underlying cause(s) and establish a hierarchy of priorities.
